Andrea Veronica Fonseka was born in Penang, Malaysia on Ausgust 29, 1984. She is of mixed ethnic heritage. Her father is of Sinhalese (Sri Lankan), Portuguese, Spanish, and Filipino descent, while her mother is of Chinese descent. She is the youngest of four daughters and currently lives and works between Singapore, Malaysia and Australia.
She was crowned Miss Malaysia Universe 2004. Later on, she represented the country in Miss Universe 2004 held in Ecuador. Perhaps, you’ll recognize Andrea for her resemblance with her mother who is also a former Miss Malaysia Universe.
Subsequently after the beauty pageant, Andrea went to National University of Singapore (NUS) and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 2008. She first emerged into the limelight when Andrea hosted a teen program under Malaysia’s Astro TVIQ production known as Xfresh.tv.
Although Andrea won Miss Malaysia Universe 2004 title in the country, she failed to make it big in Malaysia. In fact, when she made the decision to relocate to Singapore, it proved to be a success. She was then chosen as Marie France Bodyline ambassador. Besides that, Andrea also appeared in various magazine covers including the much beloved FHM Singapore.
Her striking figure proved to an asset that led her to become a successful model in Singapore before returning to Malaysia. After her appearance in FHM Singapore, she expanded her career and moved on to become a host on ESPN’s Score Today as well as one of the gorgeous suitcase girls in Deal or No Deal Singapore version.
When Deal or No Deal ended, Mediacorp Channel 5 extended the invitation to Andrea to become part of a reality television singing contest, Live the Dream host with Michelle Chia and Utt.
She made her acting debut in Maggi & Me and also starred in Parental Guidance. Perhaps, you can say that her appearance in Housemates was the peak of her acting career (Andrea landed herself the lead role). Other movie/drama roles are Carrotcake Conversations and En Bloc.
This hottie was voted as sexiest woman in 2007 FHM 100 Sexiest Women (Singapore). She made it into history when she won the title for second consecutive time in 2008.
Andrea once appeared alongside Fiona Xie and Jade Seah in Babes’ Special of Don’t Forget the Lyrics.
Andrea was inducted into the Miss Malaysia Universe Hall of Fame in 2009, recognizing her success and contribution in the regional entertainment industry. In 2010, Andrea became the Face of the Malaysia International Fashion Week, and fronting the Fashion-TV program.
